LeAnn Rimes knows the show must go on … even if her teeth fall out.
The country artist revealed on Sunday that she lost her teeth mid-song during a concert, and she spent the rest of the performance trying to push them back in.
“This is the most epic example of how the show must go on,” Rimes said in a video posted to her Instagram. “I was on stage, and in the middle of ‘One Way Ticket,’ I feel something pop in my mouth. And if you’ve been around, you know I’ve had a lot of dental surgeries, and I have a bridge in the front, and it fell out in the middle of my song.”
The “Blue” singer added that she “panicked” as she said, “Hold on,” into the microphone.
“I ran to the side of the stage and put it back in, like popped it back in, and then just went on singing,” Rimes said with a laugh. “And then I just had to get real with everybody and tell them exactly what was happening, or else I would have had to walk off stage. For the rest of the show, I was literally like this, pushing my teeth in, like every couple lines, and singing.”
Rimes laughed again as she explained how her song “Can’t Fight the Moonlight” was particularly difficult to sing while trying to keep her teeth in.
“‘Can’t Fight the Moonlight,’ they completely fell out of my mouth,” Rimes said. “It was the most epic experience ever. I don’t usually have firsts in my career. That was a first and hopefully a last.”
The Grammy winner — who recently joined The Voice as a mega mentor — warned her fans to be aware if they’re in the front row of her shows moving forward.
“Get ready for something to fly out,” she joked. “If you catch them, please return them. Good times, just keeping it real out here with you, just as real as I had to last night.”
Rimes added that “there wasn’t a f—ing thing” she could do about her teeth falling out in the moment, and she’s proud of how she handled that onstage mishap.
“I just ran with it,” she said. “In case, you know, anybody has an issue on stage ever and feels embarrassed by it, just watch this video again, and it’ll remind you that the show can go on even in the midst of sheer utter embarrassment. You’ve just got to be real with people.”
The singer concluded by revealing her teeth are “in, for now.”
“It’s all good,” Rimes said.
