Jake and Logan Paul are reflecting on their troubled past.
In a new episode of Paul American, the social media stars openly discussed the alleged physical abuse and trauma they experienced as kids when looking back on their challenged relationship with their father, Greg Paul.
“My dad… where do I begin?” Jake, 28, begins in a teaser clip shared exclusively with PEOPLE. “The road is getting smoother and smoother, but it wasn’t easy for so many years because [of] all of our traumas and all of our bold, stubborn personalities clashing together.”
Jake and Logan, 30, were born to Greg and Pam Stepnick. The former couple, who both appear in the family’s docuseries on Max, divorced before either of the boys were 10 years old.
In the episode, the boys toggle with the definition of “abuse” and whether they’d use the term to describe the hurtful actions they experienced from their dad growing up. Greg, too, defined the word.
“My dad and Jake’s biggest rift came because my dad refused to acknowledge the idea that he was physical with us when we were younger,” Logan says in the teaser clip.
“To me, abuse is things that are over the top, going way beyond, things you are doing out of anger or under the influence,” Greg shares. “You know, yelling in a rage and yelling with a firm tone… two different things,” he says.

Logan didn’t beat around the bush when recollecting his past interactions with his dad.
“Yeah man, my dad was physical with us,” he says. “Jake will use the word ‘abusive.’ I will not because I don’t believe we were abused. That’s such a charged word,” he continues, adding, “And my dad will take offense to that as well.”
Episode 6 of Paul American isn’t the first time the Pauls have been open about the alleged physical abuse they experienced from their father as kids. In August 2023, Jake made claims against his father in Netflix’s Untold series.
“My dad would slap the s— out of me,” Jake said in the first installment of Untold: Jake Paul the Problem Child.
Jake claimed both of his parents were “really strict” when he and Logan were growing up, before saying that it was “mainly” his father whose discipline he recalls most.
“It was always Logan and I against him,” Jake explained of the relationship.

Logan shared similar stories about their relationship with Greg, but specified that he describes their dad’s parenting differently than his younger brother.
“Jake may throw around the word ‘abusive,’ I prefer ‘not quite legal,’” Logan claimed. “Greg Paul is a f—— being. He’s a menace. That guy’s intense.”
In the Netflix series, Greg addressed Jake’s claims and said he “never laid a hand” on Jake or Logan. However, he admitted to taking a tough-love approach as a parent.
“I said, ‘Jake I did pick you up and throw you on a couch a couple of times,’” Greg recalled in the episode, explaining, “That’s what the f— dads are supposed to do. Welcome to life, get the f— over it.”
