Emily Ratajkowski doesn’t have any straight male friends—and she’s perfectly okay with that.

In a new interview with Elle UK, Ratajkowski declared she has “zero straight men” in her life that fit that description. “I still like men,” the 24-year-old model and actor told the publication. “I just have zero straight men in my life, unless they’re a romantic interest.”

She continued, “In the hierarchy of needs, that’s at the top of the pyramid, which is nice. [Men are] pleasure and fun, but not a part of my core. The rest of my life is community with other women and queer people, and being a mom.”

Ratajkowski shares her four-year-old son, Sylvester Apollo Bear, with her former husband, Sebastian Bear-McClard. Following her divorce in 2022, she spent some time “enjoying the freedom” of single life before jumping back into the dating scene. She was quickly linked with multiple A-list bachelors, eventually declaring that she attracts the “worst” men during an episode of her podcast, High Low With EmRata.

Now she says “not centering men is wonderful,” adding, “In general, in our world, men have somehow filed this space, but what I found instead of it is community.”

Emily Ratajkowski Says It’s ‘Chic’ to Be Divorced by 30 Amid Sophie Turner’s Split From Joe Jonas

“Congratulations…congratulations.”

That community includes longtime friend Lena Dunham, who wrote a part for the Gone Girl star in her upcoming Netflix series, Too Much—Ratajkowski’s first significant acting role since 2019. “I don’t agree to a lot of offers,” she said. “I really value control. In my 20s, I didn’t have a lot of it in my career. Now, I like making things and I like not being an addition to them. With Lena, I got to shape the character so much, which was really fun. It gave me a bigger role than just an actor for hire.”

According to Elle UK, Ratajkowski’s character, Molly, is “the model/influencer rebound girlfriend of the lead’s ex-boyfriend.” Though the part was written for Ratajkowski—and with her input—it doesn’t sound as if it’s about her, especially not the woman she is at 34 years old.

“I’m fascinated with this decade of my life,” Ratajkowski says of her 30s. “My mom had me at 39, and I remember she always romanticized her 30s as a time of self-exploration and power as a woman. I’m in the midst of it and really feel that way too.”
