EXCLUSIVE: Side Hustlers, the Reese Witherspoon-produced format in which businesswomen transform their passion projects into fully-fledged businesses, has landed its first international adaptation.
ITV Studios has struck a deal with South Africa‘s Primedia, which will produce a local adaptation of the format. Broadcasting partner and production timelines are yet to be confirmed.
Side Hustlers for Roku, which has aired for two seasons, comes from Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine. Hosted by Emma Grede and Ashley Graham, it follows female entrepreneurs who grow their side hustles into potential full-time businesses while juggling the demands of their personal lives and day jobs.
Revealed on the morning of its London TV Screenings event, ITV Studios has also sold Channel 4’s Double the Money to Primedia in South Africa. Hosted in the UK by Sue Perkins, that show sees pairs battle against the clock to double their starting funds through strategic and high-pressure challenges. Its first international commission was for Max in Denmark.

Meanwhile, as ITV Studios hosts a press event in Leicester Square, hit ITV format My Mum Your Dad is heading to Belgium for the first time, with RTL bringing a local adaptation to Wallonia. Belgium is the 11th territory after Brazil, Poland and French Canada to take the Love Island-esque hit, which follows older people looking for love. And following the success of I Kissed a Boy and I Kissed a Girl on the BBC, Videoland in the Netherlands recorded its own I Kissed a Girl in South Africa last month to air in the Spring.
Ruth Berry, President, Global Partnerships & Zoo 55, ITV Studios, said: “We are thrilled to see these entrepreneurial and diverse formats expanding into new markets. We hope these fresh concepts are just what viewers have been waiting for.”
ITV Studios has also been shopping the likes of phone hacking drama The Hack and Extreme Planet Earth at the London TV Screenings.
