Super Earth is once again providing material support for its brightest and finest soldiers: The latest Warbond for Helldivers 2, aptly named Servants of Freedom, will arrive on February 6, 2025, for PC and PS5.
Its highlight? A bomb. No, a big bomb — one that you can strap to your back. That’s right, the B-100 Portable Hellbomb stands ready to blow away enemies with a massive burst of freedom. Although you are advised to drop the Hellbomb before triggering the ten-second-countdown preceding its activation, it may sometimes be necessary to bring the ultimate sacrifice and reduce the distance to the target while the countdown is already running — thankfully, your helpful squad mates can activate the Hellbomb strapped to your back without any issues… for them.
Oh, and there are no take-backsies — once the countdown is running, there is no way to stop it.
The Hellbomb is not the only new weapon that is as likely to kill its wielder as it is to eliminate its intended targets. The LAS-17 Double-Edge Sickle is a brand-new laser rifle that any enterprising Helldiver can overclock for a little more firepower. The disadvantage, of course, is that the rifle is burning your hands and face away while you’re using this fire mode — though this might come in handy during frosty conditions.
Also on offer are the GP-20 Ultimatum, a grenade-lobbing pistol usable as a secondary weapon, and the G-50 Seeker, a small drone that autonomously follows you around and then blows itself up next to enemies — in both cases you’d be advised to keep your distance, lest you suffer from a little too much freedom.
In regards to new armor pieces, Servants of Freedom has two sets in store: the IE-3 Martyr and the IE-12 Righteous. Both are medium armors and come with the Integrated Explosives passive, blowing up your corpse after you’ve fallen to some enemies down with you. Denying the bugs a body to eat is truly a heroic deed.
Add to that additional player banners, capes, emotes, and titles, and you’ve got another package full of fantastic content for any friend of liberty.
Make sure to check the Helldivers 2 update 01.002.101 patch notes as well — missing a crucial change may well result in unfortunate accidents on the field.
