Now that’s luxury.
Mindy Kaling is enjoying a quick trip to Paris, but bringing along her three children in the form of a sentimental — and very pricey — accessory.
The “Office” alum showed off a black alligator Hermès Kelly bag on Instagram, which in itself is a fashion feat; the rare style regularly fetches upwards of $80,000 on the resale market.
However, Kaling upped the ante by personalizing her purse with diamond- and gem-covered charms by Dubai-based jeweler Ashna Mehta.
She showed off the charms — which feature her three children’s names covered in diamonds and dripping in their birthstones — across the band at the top of the bag, with son Spencer, 3, on the left and her two daughter’s nicknames Kit (Katherine), 7, and Annie (Anne) on the right.
In June 2024, the “Sex Lives of College Girls” creator, 45, announced she had welcomed her youngest child in February of the same year.
Mehta revealed on Instagram that each name on the purse featured the children’s corresponding birthstones, including blue sapphire, amethyst and blue topaz as well as diamonds in playful shapes like hearts, kites and pears.
While it’s unclear exactly how much the blinged-out accessories added to the already substantial value of the purse, Mehta’s “bag bijoux” will set you back more than $3,000 per initial.
What’s more, Kaling’s commission included a total of 15 letters — and plenty of extra sparkling stones.
According to Mehta’s website, “Her bag brooches, crafted from high-quality materials like 18-karat gold, diamonds, and mother-of-pearl, offer a sophisticated way to personalize handbags with initials and unique designs.”
Mehta first debuted the nameplates with dangling charms at billionaire Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant’s over-the-top wedding, designing bag charms for the groom’s sister, Isha Ambani, featuring her two children’s names.
We can’t wait to see which of the kids gets to keep their nameplates in the future.
