Since Taylor Swift‘s romance with Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce first went public in 2023, fans have engaged in their own football-adjacent game. Will Taylor Swift attend whatever Chiefs game is on the horizon, angering dads, Brads, and Chads the world over? Notoriously close-mouthed about her schedule for a variety of reasons, the star has typically kept audiences guessing…but not this week, as Swift seems destined to attend the Chiefs’ playoff game against the Houston Texans, unless Kelce is playing a trick on all of us.
This weekend is typically known as the most exciting one in pro football, the Divisional Playoffs. That’s when the top-ranked teams from each division square off, setting the stage for the AFC Championship Game—and after that, the Super Bowl. In addition to the Chiefs’ game today against the Texans, the Washington Commanders will play the Detroit Lions; on Sunday it’s the Los Angeles Rams against the Philadelphia Eagles and the Buffalo Bills against the Baltimore Ravens.
The Chiefs are widely expected to triumph today, given their 15 wins and scant two losses during the regular season, one of its best records in years. Meanwhile, the Texans have been plagued with injuries and have a record of 10-7 for the season. If one were a betting person, the choice seems clear.
And this week, Swift is almost certain to be cheering Kelce on from one of Arrowhead’s suites, if Kelce is to be believed. In an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show earlier this week, Kelce seemingly confirmed her attendance, responding “Oh, yeah. You know it, baby,” when asked if Swift would be coming to the game. “You know, it’s playoff football, man,” he continued, perhaps an allusion to the lengths Swift went to to support him during last year’s playoffs, despite the demands of her now-concluded Eras Tour.
While Kelce is understandably thrilled to have Swift at the game, he’s clearly keeping his eye out of the stands and on the ball. In a video shared by the Chiefs Friday, the team’s most famous fan didn’t come up, with Kelce saving all his love for the gridiron.
“I cherish every single play, man,” Kelce says in the video. “I really do. When you’re in it, you’re always trying to strive for greatness, being greater than what you are. You know, obviously there’s a historic run and something that we can achieve that no other team has ever achieved, and that fuels you.”
Today’s divisional playoffs game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Houston Texans will begin at 4:30 p.m. ET., and will be broadcast on ESPN and ABC and streamed on ESPN+, NFL+, and Fubo.
