The state funeral for Jimmy Carter at Washington National Cathedral on Thursday will include tributes from members of his family and two presidents — President Biden and Gerald R. Ford, who died almost two decades ago.
Mr. Ford’s eulogy will be read by his son Steve. Walter Mondale, who served as Mr. Carter’s vice president, also wrote a eulogy before his own death that will be delivered by his son Ted.
Jason Carter, Mr. Carter’s grandson, and Stuart E. Eizenstat, a longtime friend and White House domestic adviser to Mr. Carter, will also deliver eulogies.
Readings will be offered by Jason Carter and Joshua Carter, another grandson, and Andrew Young, the civil rights leader who served as Mr. Carter’s ambassador to the U.N., will deliver a homily.
The country music stars Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood will sing John Lennon’s “Imagine.” The U.S. Marine Orchestra and Armed Forces Chorus are also among the performers.
