Former President Donald J. Trump’s campaign has blocked multiple reporters from its election watch event on Tuesday night at his Mar-a-Lago club in Florida.
Tara Palmeri, a senior political correspondent for Puck, said she had been scheduled to broadcast from the event as part of Amazon’s election night special with Brian Williams. But, she said on her podcast on Tuesday, the Trump campaign barred her after she wrote an article on internal anxiety over early voting numbers in Pennsylvania.
“Turns out I have pissed off Trump’s campaign manager with my reporting, and they decided to deny my credentials,” Ms. Palmeri said on the podcast, “Somebody’s Gotta Win,” adding, “I have been honest and fair this entire time covering this election.”
Chris LaCivita, one of Mr. Trump’s campaign managers, called Ms. Palmeri a “gossip columnist” in a post on social media on Oct. 31, the day the article about the campaign’s anxiety was published, and confirmed that her credentials had been denied.
A spokesman for the Trump campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The Trump team is holding a V.I.P. event at Mar-a-Lago on Tuesday night. Mr. Trump is also expected to address the crowd at a bigger event at the Palm Beach Convention Center. Some other journalists were allowed to attend the campaign events.
The Trump campaign revoked entry for a team of journalists from Politico after its magazine published an article on Monday reporting that a Trump field director was a white nationalist who shared his views online under a different name. A Politico spokesman declined to comment. Sophia Cai, a national reporter for Axios, was also barred from the event, according to a person with knowledge of the move.
Aja Whitaker-Moore, the editor in chief of Axios, said in a statement that Ms. Cai was “an excellent reporter” who had done “essential, clinical coverage for Axios.”
Mr. Trump has regularly criticized coverage by the news media, and his threats against journalists have escalated during this campaign.
